Weekly Update

'Together we inspire learning'

Welcome to the final week of Term 2!
We have had a wonderful term full of learning and fun. Thank you for all your valued support. The children in B2 are lucky to have such great parents. I hope you all have a great two weeks spending time with each other. I will be going to Rotorua for a few days with my daughters, maybe I will bump into some of you!
Have a lovely break.

Maths – For this final week we will be working on number sequencing, place value and number addition. We will also continue to work on geometrical position.

Reading – I have been carrying out reading assessments over the past week and am so pleased to see how each child is progressing. We do a lot of reading in class and we love books, we love the new worlds that are there to be read about.

Word work – We will be looking at the ‘gr’ and ‘oa’ sounds this week. For example, grumpy goat

Inquiry – Did you guess what we made this week? Yes, it was pavement chalk! We had great fun trying it out on the playground and it worked pretty well too. We have now come to the end of our inquiry on ‘change’ and will be looking forward to a new inquiry next term, so watch this space…

Writing -  We will be working on our independent writing this week. We are trying to incorporate more ‘wow’ words into our writing. These words help to bring our writing to life and put pictures into our minds.

Te Reo Maori – This week B2 will continue to look at Matariki and finding out what it’s all about.

School Values – ORCA – The symbol of the orca is very important to Whangaparaoa School and is carried with us everywhere, every day on our uniform.

Each letter of the ORCA stands for a different value:
O – Ownership
R – Respect
C – Collaborate
A – Achieve
We continue looking at these values and how we can take them on board in our classroom.

Home books – Please continue to read and learn your spellings at home. Please try to remember to bring in your home books every day, thank you.

Remember in Term 2 and 3 we do not need to wear hats outside.

Library day is Tuesday

Sharing news is on Monday and Friday

Many thanks for your continued support.
