'Together we inspire learning'
This week we will be taking a visit to the Kindy for a singalong.
We will be leaving at 11.00 to visit the children there and teaching them a few of the songs we sing in class. Hopefully, the kindy kids can teach us a few too!
Also, it is our team’s turn to lead the school assembly in week 4 so lots to work on there too!
Maths – We have been working on halves in our Maths programme and have worked really hard to understand how to cut objects equally in half. We will be moving on to look at quarters this week.
There will also be plenty of number work while doing our daily calendar maths.
Reading – There are more children moving up reading levels this week – well done! We do guided reading daily in the classroom but the individual time that you spend reading at home helps to make all the difference!
Word work – We will be looking at the ‘sc’ and ‘or’ sounds this week.
For example; school orca
Inquiry – Our inquiry continues with looking at homes and how we could design new ones. We are looking at materials that we might need.
Writing - This week we will work on sentence structure and make sure we are using full stops and capital letters correctly.
Te Reo Maori – This week B2 will look at the Te Reo Maori words to do with building materials that we use to build houses.
School Values – ORCA – The symbol of the orca is very important to Whangaparaoa School and is carried with us everywhere, every day on our uniform.
Each letter of the ORCA stands for a different value:
O – Ownership
R – Respect
C – Collaborate
A – Achieve
We continue looking at these values and how we can take them on board in our classroom.
Home books – Please continue to read and learn your spellings at home. We have put some new ones into your home books. Please try to remember to bring in your home books every day, thank you. Last week we put words in our home books to help with our reading.
Remember in Term 2 and 3 we do not need to wear hats outside.
Library day is Tuesday
Sharing news is on Monday and Friday
Many thanks for your continued support.
