'Together we inspire learning'
At last the weather is getting a little warmer! This is great news as it means we get to go outside more during the day again.
On Wednesday morning we take our trip to the Whangaparaoa Library –hopefully we will remember to take Barny with us. I have had most of the permission slips back but not all and if anyone would like to walk up with us we could still do with a couple more helpers. Many thanks to those who have already offered to come with us J
Maths – We will be looking at counting on in twos, fives and tens for the next few weeks. We are also going to be looking at area using tiling to help.
There will also be plenty of number work while doing our daily calendar maths.
Reading – It’s almost the holidays but we need to keep up with our reading! If your child is getting very tired as it is near the end of a busy term then just read a couple of pages, it all helps.
Word work – We will be looking at the digraph sound made by ‘igh’. As in night sky.
Inquiry – Our journey to the library is the biggest part of our inquiry this week. We are really looking forward to visiting. Each child will be bringing home an application form to become a member if they would like to join. There is absolutely no pressure to do so but the option is there, I know lots of you are already members.
Writing - We have been looking at how we use full stops and capital letters again this week. Sometimes when we concentrate on new concepts we forget the ones we learnt in the very beginning! It’s for this reason we review things we learnt a while ago to make our writing even more awesome.
Te Reo Maori – We will be with B1 again this week and looking at a new Maori myth or legend. I wonder which one it will be this time?
School Values – ORCA – The symbol of the orca is very important to Whangaparaoa School and is carried with us everywhere, every day on our uniform.
Each letter of the ORCA stands for a different value:
O – Ownership
R – Respect
C – Collaborate
A – Achieve
We continue looking at these values and how we can take them on board in our classroom.
Home books – Please continue to read and learn your spellings at home. Please try to remember to bring in your home books every day, thank you.
Remember in Term 2 and 3 we do not need to wear hats outside.
Library day is Tuesday
Sharing news is on Monday and Friday
Many thanks for your continued support.
