Weekly Update

'Together we inspire learning'

Week One

Goodness - it really is Term 4 already!
This term we need to remember a hat to protect ourselves at playtimes. If we don’t have a hat we have to stay in the shade.

Maths – This week we will be beginning some outdoor maths activities along with our friends next door in B1. Tessellating patterns will also be something we will be looking at and doing some practical work on.
There will also be plenty of number work while doing our daily calendar maths.
Reading – We will continue our reading programme as usual and will concentrate on the use of punctuation in books. We need to stop at full stops and take a breath.

Word work – We will be looking at the digraph sound made by ‘er’. Our class poem for this week is ‘Patterns’ which contains the ‘er’ sound.

Inquiry – Our inquiry this term is ‘sustainability’. The whole school will be studying this. We will be doing a class brainstorm on how we can use less paper in the classroom.

Writing -  We have been looking at how we use full stops and capital letters again this week – continuing from the end of last term.

Te Reo Maori – We will be with B1 again this week and looking at a new Maori myth or legend. I wonder which one it will be this time?

School Values – ORCA – The symbol of the orca is very important to Whangaparaoa School and is carried with us everywhere, every day on our uniform.

Each letter of the ORCA stands for a different value:
O – Ownership
R – Respect
C – Collaborate
A – Achieve
We continue looking at these values and how we can take them on board in our classroom.

Home books – Please continue to read and learn your spellings at home. Please try to remember to bring in your home books every day, thank you.

Library day is Tuesday

Sharing news is on Monday and Friday

Remember your hat!

Many thanks for your continued support.

Libby, Simone and the children of B2
