This term we need to remember a hat to protect ourselves at playtimes. If we don’t have a hat we have to stay in the shade.

Maths – This week we will continue with our outdoor maths which we started so successfully last week.
There will also be plenty of number work while doing our daily calendar maths.
Reading – We will continue our reading programme as usual and will concentrate on the use of punctuation in books. We need to stop at full stops and take a breath.

Word work – We will be looking at the digraph sound made by ‘qu’. For example, a quilt.

Inquiry – Our inquiry this term is ‘sustainability’. The whole school will be studying this. We will be looking at recycling. We are thinking about how to become 'greener'.
We also need to remember to keep our plants watered!

Writing -  We are now experts at using punctuation in our writing! We will be looking at how to write persuasively over the next few weeks. For example, how could we ask another class to use less paper? What would we need to write in our letter to them?

Te Reo Maori – We will be with B1 again this week and learning the words to describe recycling.

School Values – ORCA – The symbol of the orca is very important to Whangaparaoa School and is carried with us everywhere, every day on our uniform.

Each letter of the ORCA stands for a different value:
O – Ownership
R – Respect
C – Collaborate
A – Achieve
We continue looking at these values and how we can take them on board in our classroom.

Home books – Please continue to read and learn your spellings at home. Please try to remember to bring in your home books every day, thank you.

Library day is Tuesday

Sharing news is on Monday and Friday

Remember your hats!

Many thanks for your continued support.

Libby, Simone and the children of B2
